This technique involves using muscles throughout the body to affect the position of painful or dysfunctional joints. The human body most often operates with a balanced system. This means, where possible, one side of the body matches the other; flexibility and strength are balanced from one side to the other as well as opposing muscles groups. If an imbalance exists there is often a cause for pain associated with that imbalance. Using muscle energy techniques we can often influence the position of joints as well as decrease muscle spasms or imbalances. This then allows us to progress mobility and strength en route to less pain and better function.
